Meet The Host

Joe Smarro & Jesse Trevino

Joe Smarro is a decorated combat veteran from the United States Marine Corps. He honorably served in both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. After completing his enlistment, he moved to South Texas where he joined the San Antonio Police Department (2005). Joe was one of the original members of the SAPD Mental Health Unit and helped grow that unit into a nationally recognized best-practices policing program.


Jesse Trevino is a decorated United States Marine combat veteran with a distinguished career in law enforcement and mental health intervention. He served as a sworn member of the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) for over a decade, making significant contributions to the nationally recognized Mental Health Unit (MHU). As a certified mental health peace officer and crisis intervention instructor, Jesse played a pivotal role in implementing sequential intercept model programs to improve public safety and crisis response.
